This unusually titled collection from Canadian-born classical guitar master
Liona Boyd makes good on its promise of offering delicately played, relaxing guitar music. Whether it will cure insomnia, induce dreaming, or inspire romance is entirely up to the listener. Residing pretty squarely in the instrumental new age realm where
Boyd first set up shop in the 1980s, her nimble guitar work is frequently supported by the innocuous soft synth pads and nature sounds (babbling brooks, bird song, etc.) that are so prevalent in the genre. As a relaxation tool, the album's ample 21 tracks supply plenty of soothing tones that will lull listeners into submission, but from a critical standpoint,
Boyd is at her best on the more elegant solo guitar pieces rather than the meditative fluff. ~ Timothy Monger
