This,
the Skydiggers fourth release, is also their first for a major label (Warner Music). Their first three albums were released by the small company FRE, but distributed through EMI Music. The move to a major label did not seem to have a major effect on them, however. This album is full of their trademark harmonies, tight playing, and folk-based rock songs, all tied together to present a very strong album. As usual, they experiment with sound (as in the chilling "Down in the Hole"), but the strength of this group lies in their infectious melodies. They do get somewhat more electric, but the acoustic guitars are not far behind. The more acoustic numbers highlight the album, but in good balance so as to hold the listener's attention. As usual,
Andy Maize's vocals are amazing, but
Peter Cash is able to demonstrate his singing talents by taking lead vocals on several of the songs (essentially the ones he wrote). It is worth noting that he left the band following the release of this CD. Overall, a very strong album, full of great songs. ~ Aaron Badgley
