Black-hooded rapper
Blokkmonsta is known less for his skills as an MC and more for his crass publicity stunts (like getting into a fistfight with the editor of the webpage rap.de because of a negative review), his run-ins with the law (he was sentenced to six months in investigative custody after attacking and stealing from fellow rapper Sebar), and his violent and extremely graphic splatter movie lyrics (several of his albums have been put on the German index or been banned altogether). Released in 2012,
Roboblokk,
Blokkmonsta's fifth solo album, was produced by Samurai Sounds, who adds an '80s action/horror movie vibe to the rapper's shouted vocals. The record, which features guest appearances by
B-Tight,
Silla,
Sido, Hayat,
Die Atzen, and even
Ice-T, is
Blokkmonsta's first album to enter the German charts (reaching number 34). ~ Christian Genzel
