On her first new studio release since 2011's
Virtue, London-based singer/songwriter Emmy the Great returns with the four-song EP
S. A precursor to her upcoming full-length,
S was inspired by her travels over the previous few years and eschews the personal introspection of her earlier albums in favor of more outward and worldly musings. Recorded in L.A. and London by a crack team that includes producers Ludwig Goransson (Haim, Childish Gambino) and Dave McCracken (Oh Land, Beyonce), the EP features a guest spot from Wild Beasts' Tom Fleming on the haunting lead single "Swimming Pool." ~ Timothy Monger
