Repping for Sacramento, X-Raided is best known for his classic 1992 debut, Psycho Active: an ultra-violent excursion in super hardcore gangsta rap that also featured the debut of fellow Sac-Town emcee Brotha Lynch Hung. Around the same time, he was arrested and sentenced to 31 years in prison. While that would essentially end most musicians' careers, X hasn't let it slow him down; he's released an astonishing 17 more albums while serving his time in various California state prisons. As with most of his incarcerated discography, the vocal sound quality here is lo-fi (though thankfully not recorded over the phone anymore), but he still gets busy, rhyming about prison life ("Recidivism"), getting buck in the clubs ("Go Nutz"), and his thugged-out pedigree ("They'll Tell U I'm a G"). It's far less blood-drenched than his early work; he even gets semi-romantic on tracks like "Can I B Ur Thug," "Wutz on Ur Mind," and "She Got Brainz."
