Santa's Super Hits collects a number of contemporary Christmas classics -- "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town," "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," "Jingle Bell Rock" -- as well as some new numbers (
Charlie Daniels' "Little Folks") and novelties ("Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"). All of the selections on the album are performed by country artists, ranging from
Gene Autry,
Willie Nelson, and
Merle Haggard to
Sweethearts of the Rodeo,
Dolly Parton, and
Riders in the Sky. Parts of the album are quite enjoyable, but the tone of the disc is a bit too inconsistent to make it truly enjoyable holiday listening.
