Even with
Killa Kyleon and
Chris Ward gone, the loose cartel known as the
Boss Hogg Outlawz roll on with
Slim Thug as their leader. Boomin' Houston street music is still the flavor on
Serve & Collect, Vol. 3 (Immahogg) which reaches U.G.K. heights on the hook-filled "Biz." "Concrete" comes in a close second with its pants saggin' and drunk on Patron, while "Roofles" combines Cosby-styled mush-mouth lyrics with thick, bedroom-studio funk. This new class of
Outlawz remains as skilled as ever, although less distinct, and if that serves to push away the out-of-towners, there's an "our hood" attitude here anyway, meaning you've got to be an H-Town regular to feel entirely at home. ~ David Jeffries
