As part of the conscious dancehall movement,
Anthony B skips the hard-hitting tactics favored by DJs such as
Capleton and
Sizzla, instead choosing a mellower, indirect approach. Seven Seals displays his uplifting ability in all its glory, from the catchy "Conscious Entertainer to "You Move Me," a hip-rolling Rasta love song. But except for the wonderful remix of
Garnett Silk's "Hello Mama Africa," featuring a heady combination of
Silk's smooth vocals with
Buju Banton's gruff toasting, there are no real standouts on this disc. This album offers solid, roots-influenced dancehall, but nothing exceptional. ~ Rosalind Cummings-Yeates
