When synthesizers were leading the way up the charts, the group released two albums of catchy, proficient synth pop. Now that hard rock is back in chart favor,
Frozen Ghost reemerges after three years with guitars upfront on most tracks, producing an album of catchy, proficient guitar pop. Head Ghost Arnold Lanni strives to write meaningful lyrics, but the effort is best summed up by the song "Something To Say," awhich spends a lot of time and effort repeating "Hey, we've got something to say," without ever getting around to telling us what that might be. An exception that works is "Stuck In A Groove," a song set to a jangly, 12-string sound that offsets yuppie ideals against 60s idealism. Otherwise, the album offers a polished shine that remains ultimately superficial. ~ Roch Parisien
