Jeff Ciampa has a nice tone on guitar and his sextet includes such notables as tenor saxophonist Billy Drewes, bassist
Mark Egan, and drummer
Danny Gottlieb. However, the ten originals are dull, the music (which was clearly designed for potential radio airplay) never really develops, and many of the themes sound like they belong to television shows. So this is a case of excellent musicians playing inferior music with hopes of maximum commercial success, and it is largely a failure. Everyone involved is capable of much better. ~ Scott Yanow
