Singer, acoustic guitarist, and ukulele player Mattia's Sing-A-Long is a singer/songwriter album that's average to the point of non-noteworthiness, although with a few mild quirks. Usually he uses fairly mainstream and rather nondescript rock arrangements; a track like "Everything Tonight," for instance, has a bit of a sub-James Taylor feel. His compositions often deal with romantic knocks and aspirations in an upbeat manner, sung in a voice that's inoffensive but on the wan side. There are also some journeys into lightweight reggae, including a peculiar cover of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice (It's Alright)" on which his own ukulele supplies the sole backing. "Something Close to Me" moves into rough ska with the addition of a sax, and he brings out the ukulele again to close the disc with an island music feel on "Good-bye Summer Good-bye."
