Australian rock band
Skybombers take no prisoners and live up to the country's reputation of acts like
AC/DC,
INXS and especially
Jet with this rowdy, rollicking five-song romp. "It Goes Off" is pure adrenalin, as guitarists and singers Hugh Gurney and Sam Bethune complement each other quite nicely. The "boogie" quotient is also in full effect with the short, snappy "6 A.M." that resembles an homage to
Rose Tattoo. However, like most EPs of high quality, one gets the sense that they could have offered up more for a full-length album. The only slight drawback here might be the run-of-the-mill "So Come On" that most rock bands could create in their sleep. But the group returned to their bouncy, chipper selves on "Revolution" that could have been robbed directly from
the Fratellis catalog. ~ Jason MacNeil
