Franz Jackson (77 at the time) is well featured with trombonist
Jim Beebe's Chicago Jazz Band on this Delmark CD. With trumpeter
Bob Neighbor completing the frontline and a fine four-piece rhythm section keeping the music swinging,
Jackson (who is heard on tenor, clarinet, soprano and a few vocals) proves to still be in prime form. The repertoire is mostly from the 1920s and '30s, ranging from Dixieland and classic jazz to swing. Highlights include "How'm I Doin'," "High Society," "That Da Da Strain" and "Panama."
