At its core,
Cravin' Melon is a bar band, which means that they're most comfortable when they are on stage, cranking out their southern rock & roll. That's one of the reasons why the EP
Squeeze Me is actually more enjoyable than
Red Clay Harvest, their first album for Mercury Records. Even though they've toured these tunes for years,
Cravin' Melon has never recorded any of the songs before, which makes this tempting for hardcore fans. The songs themselves don't add up to great leaps forward, but they're just as strong as anything on the group's earlier releases, and they're treated to the band's best performances to date. It's a record that's for the dedicated, but ironically it also is the record that's most likely to win them new fans.
