Helen Baylor's 1993 release,
Start All Over, simply exists. The material is mediocre, with the exception of "Mount Zion," a song co-written by and performed with
Phil Driscoll, and "Doxology," a Caribbean take on the church service staple. Her vocals, as always, are heartfelt, but she is clearly at her finest when in front of an audience, and this album does nothing to bring that out. The gospel/pop sound, although timely, is ill-suited to
Baylor's rich vocals. Her later releases show her at her best; this one is simply adequate. ~ Melinda Hill
