The music of
Pago Libre is as eccentric as its instrumentation. Each of the four musicians is quite talented and versatile. Their music draws upon swinging jazz, classical, and European folk music, combining together its influences and inspirations in quirky and often-witty fashion. One is never quite sure when the music is tongue-in-cheek, although "Waltz for Alfred Hitchcock" seems a certainty. The results are episodic, thoroughly unpredictable, always musical, and thought provoking. Open-minded listeners will find much to enjoy here. ~ Scott Yanow
