Suga Free's debut album
Street Gospel is a competent collection of street-level, hardcore G-funk, highlighted by DJ Quik's savvy production. Although
Suga Free is a strong rapper, he isn't particularly distinctive, and he's often given pedestrian backing music, which makes the album a little tedious. Still, he's charismatic enough to make the best songs, like the single "If You Stay Ready," powerful, and that nearly makes the album worthwhile. [
