Bobby Taylor goes solo with mixed results. Taylor's emotional tenor has a thin, wiry quality that works well when matched up correctly. However, without the Vancouvers' wallpaper harmonies, Bobby strays from the melodies. None of the album six remakes are as good as the originals, and that includes "Eleanor Rigby." At times, he seems to be trying to out-sing the orchestration. Technically, the mixes could have been better. I can't detect Motown's ace session groups,
the Andantes and the Originals, and that may be part of the problem. OK, but not on par with the album he waxed with the Vancouvers. ~ Andrew Hamilton
