Terraferma is the former
883 singer's third solo album, and his first in four years. Produced by
Claudio Cecchetto and
Pier Paolo Peroni, this set of alternatively buoyant and melancholic pop/rock tunes, with a wink to old favorites such as
Devo,
Tom Petty, and
Trio, is well served by
Pezzali's warm, engaging voice. The album includes the singles "Credi," "Quello Che Comunemente Noi Chiamiamo Amore," and "Il Mio Secondo Tempo," the latter performed by
Pezzali at the 2011 Sanremo Festival. A new edition of
Terraferma released a few months later adds three bonus tracks, among them a version of the traditional folk song "Mamma Mia Dammi Cento Lire" with
Arisa. ~ Mariano Prunes
