Banjos That Destroyed the World is the album that happens when banjos and bluegrass get warp drive engines attached. The majority of the disc is taken by Wynn Osborne, with tracks from Pinnacle Boys,
the Nashville Superpickers (who melt down
Lennon/
McCartney's "Paperback Writer" and "Take It Easy"),
the Stonemans and
Don Reno. The 16 cuts here manage to be inventive, complex, and often amusing (there's something jovial about banjo music), and if you want more than banjos traveling at Indy 500 speeds, there's a lot of neat warp-speed fiddling happening, too. ~ Steven McDonald
