Actually a Darryl Simmons project,
The Bells of Arcosanti sets out to celebrate and support the vision of Paoli Soleri, an architect whose vision of an ecologically sound series of buildings has resulted in the creation of a community that can, literally, be played -- Simmons here not only plays a series of bells created by Soleri as instrument, art object, and environmental piece, but also parts of the buildings themselves, combining his performances with work by Kate Price, David Blonski, and Rob Simmons. To add extra emphasis, all the of the performances were recorded in the Arcosanti environment, providing both natural ambience and the sounds of the environment in and around Arcosanti -- lovers of bird sounds will be delighted by this record. The result is a gently paced recording, leisurely in feel, absolutely something to relax or even sleep to. Deep, dark, and beautiful stuff. ~ Steven E. McDonald
