Sony's budget-priced, 16-track
1985: The Best Year of My Life collection does a decent job representing the clash between new wave and traditional pop that permeated the era. While the playlist is decidedly Eurocentric (
Modern Talking,
the Stranglers,
Boney M.,
Far Corporation,
Alison Moyet), there are enough international hits here like "Loverboy" (
Billy Ocean), "Can’t Fight This Feeling" (
REO Speedwagon), and "Holding Out for a Hero" (
Bonnie Tyler) to please the North American contingent.
