Originally released in 1980,
The Blue Meaning was new wave outfit Toyah's sophomore album, following their debut,
Sheep Farming in Barnet. Although both LPs were released in the same year,
The Blue Meaning was considered the band's proper debut, with the former album running just over 20 minutes. Recorded at the Parkgate Studios, Battle, East Sussex with producer Steve James, the set launched the band's idiosyncratic new wave pop sound, led by Toyah Willcox's vocals. The single "Ieya" is included. ~ Rich Wilson
