Accompanied by an enthusiastic big band featuring some solos from tenor great
Eddie Miller, trombonist
Moe Schneider, Jackie Coon on mellophone and the trumpets of
John Best and
Conrad Gozzo,
Pete Fountain is in excellent form on a dozen blues-oriented pieces. Since the swinging arrangements are uncluttered and attention was paid to varying tempos and moods, this LP is one of
Fountain's better ones from his earlier days. As is true with all of his Coral recordings (which are generally his most inspired and best planned), none of these performances have yet to appear on CD.
