On their third self-titled album, the obviously
Zeppelin-worshiping L.A. outfit
the Bronx continue to prove themselves one of the most pummeling but tuneful bands of their milieu. They have the muscle of classic N.Y.C. hardcore bands like
Sick of It All, with something of the decadent swagger of
the Gun Club. Lyrically, singer Matt Caughthran still appeals to the rebellion of youth, romanticizing his criminality on "Past Lives" and lamenting the state of the music industry on the caustic "Knifeman." ~ Justin Stewart
