This holiday collection from easy listening zither master Ruth Welcome essentially contains all of the same selections from her 1962 Christmas in Zitherland LP, reshuffled in a slightly different order. The weirdly alluring exotica of her tremulous zither work is aided by the dreamy sounds of a celeste as she strings together medleys of popular carols like "O Holy Night," "Coventry Carol," "Angels from the Realms of Glory," and "Silent Night." More contemporary -- from the time of the original release -- pop-oriented holiday selections like "White Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland" are also included. As on the original release of Christmas in Zitherland, Welcome's zither adaptations of holiday music are unusual and quite charming.
