Released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of
Bing Crosby's death,
The Complete United Artists Sessions compiles onto three discs all of his material for UA, recorded for the most part during 1974-77, the last three years of his life. Included are his album with
Fred Astaire, a couple of live songs from a 1976 show at the London Palladium previously unreleased, plus several duets with
Johnny Mercer and
Bob Hope. Of course, the recordings made at the end of his life pale in comparison to those from his prime, but
Crosby seemed happy and in good spirits, and this set can be enjoyed by any
Crosby fan, not just the collectors. ~ John Bush
