The soundtrack for director Todd Phillips' hugely popular "blackout" comedy the Hangover includes a handful of modern punk singles from the likes of
Danzig, the
Donnas, and
Revolution Mother, a classic punk single from the
Cramps, a handful of kitschy oldies from
Phil Collins,
El Vez, and
Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps, a song about Zebras by star Ed Helms, and a lounge lizard, pseudo-soul version of
50 Cent's "Candy Shop" by longtime Phillips' faves Dan Finnerty & his Dan Band, best known for their expletive-ridden rendition of
Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" from 2003's Old School. As far as "Things to listen to while you're in Las Vegas" go, it's hard to deny the appeal of a playlist this eclectic, but in real life, "In the Air Tonight" sounds best at two in the morning while your passed out in front of the television in the pastel glow of an all-night Miami Vice marathon. ~ James Christopher Monger
