The Hawk Swings is a latter-day studio album from legendary tenor saxophonist
Coleman Hawkins. Recorded in 1960, the album is a great example of
the Hawk's swinging, mainstream jazz style and shows how vital the swing-era style remained well into the modern jazz era. Joining
Hawkins here is an adept ensemble including trumpeter
Thad Jones and vibraphonist
Eddie Costa, who both bring a spirited and youthful bop-influenced sound to the proceedings.
