Hal Ketchum's
The Hits collection covers the singer/songwriter's most commercially productive period on the country charts in the early '90s. These tunes didn't fit in with the new traditionalist revival of the period. At times,
Ketchum's laid-back, soft rock material sounds as if it could have been recorded by
James Taylor or
Kenny Loggins. Among the ten hits are "Sure Love," "Hearts Are Gonna Roll," and his first number one hit, "Small Town Saturday Night."
Ketchum also had a minor hit with a version of "Five O'Clock World," originally recorded by
the Vogues in 1965. ~ Al Campbell
