At some level, one could argue, everything
Dionne Warwick has recorded is a love song, but the 20 sides presented here, tracked between 1964 and 1976 for the Scepter and Warner Brothers imprints, are indisputably love songs. Included are several of her definitive versions of the
Burt Bacharach songbook, which means you get "Walk on By," "I Say a Little Prayer," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose," and "The Look of Love" (about the only thing missing is "Alfie") among others, which adds up to a nice little introduction to this classy, understated singer.
