The Texan hip-hop duo Play N Skillz makes its official full-length debut with 2005's THE PROCESS. Here brothers Juan "Play" and Oscar "Skillz" Salinas offer up big beats, catchy chanted choruses, and potent rhymes, acknowledging their Latino heritage while keeping the album steeped in headstrong rap. Lil' Flip, one of Play N Skillz's earliest supporters, appears on the fierce opening track, "Now," while Layzie Bone turns up on the anthemic "Represent," and Krayzie Bone is featured with Adina Howard on the synthesizer-heavy "Freaks." The Salinas brothers are confident enough, however, to keep the guest shots here to a minimum, allowing their straightforward rap sound to carry the record.
