In August of 1982, tenor saxophonist
Eddie Harris, bassist
Larry Gales, pianist
Bill Henderson, and drummer
Carl Burnette recorded a number of tunes in a Hollywood recording studio. The album showcases
Harris' versatility, improvisational skill, and mastery of tone. The first track, "Listen Here," is a
Harris original and probably his biggest hit. It has a funky straight eighth note feel that is enthusiastically propelled by a melodic bassline, comping piano chords, and syncopating drum groove. The album's third cut, "For Your Life," is an upbeat tune that rolls with
Burnette's snare drum triplets and features pianist
Henderson's talents. "Let the Healing Begin," the next to last track is a challenging tune written by bassist
Gales. It gives the drummer some room to sound off and a brief passage of a bass solo.
