The original soundtrack to The Replacements mixes pop, rock, rap, and disco with excerpts of
John Debney's score. Along with
Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" -- which is one of the film's running jokes --
Young MC's "Bust a Move," Kelli Owens' Alanis-esque "I Don't Want to Be Your Girlfriend," and
Gary Glitter's "I Will Survive" are among the soundtrack's pop highlights. As for the score, most of Debney's incidental music is a bombastic, pseudo-anthemic mix of sawing strings, booming drums, and keyboards that sounds like it's overcompensating for the film's lackluster action. While fans of The Replacements may enjoy the soundtrack as a souvenir from the film, the album doesn't really work on its own terms. ~ Heather Phares
