With six songs from her debut (including all her singles),
Honey to the B, and six from her sophomore follow-up (also including the singles),
Walk of Life,
The Best of Billie provides a good look at what the young singer is capable of without having to wade through the album filler that often accompanies full-length pop releases. "Because We Want To" (the song that made
Billie famous) starts out the record, and "Party on the Phone," "Day and Night," and her cover of
Blondie's "The Tide Is High" are also included, as are the three B-sides "First Love," "G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T.," and "Caress the Gold." It's super-produced, saccharine, and nearly soulless music, but it's probably also the best representation of
Billie out there. ~ Marisa Brown
