Clock DVA bassist Dean Dennis steps out on his own under the pseudonym Sector, trying his hand at relatively abstract digital dance music that owes more to the ambient side of things than the actual dancehall. The album doesn't start off very promisingly; "Shadow Lands" repeats its single idea over the course of five minutes rather than developing it, and while "E Wave" brings a bit more sonic variety to the mix, it's still not much more than a single riff repeated, again, for about five minutes. But "Deep Space," with its Chapman stick-like bassline, its slithering layer of synth lines and shifting percussion sounds, is quite a bit more interesting, and "Morpheus" benefits from an aggressive beat that recalls Gary Clail and Tackhead for a while before blossoming into an intricately arpeggiated synth part that fades in and out throughout the song's length. There's nothing really revelatory here, but there's also nothing that isn't worth listening to. Recommended. ~ Rick Anderson
