Preceded by This Isn't the Album, These Days really is the album, as in the third album from rapper Mike Stud, the MLB hopeful who became a successful MC when he was sidelined by Tommy John surgery. That helps explain why Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman makes his rapping debut on the album's title track, along with the highlight titled "10th Inning." The sports metaphors aren't all from baseball, as "Swish" is basketball all the way, but those who have never even flipped the channel to ESPN or Fox Sports will find plenty to enjoy here, especially if they prefer the work of Macklemore, MGK, or Drake. On These Days, Stud is a welcome mix of those three with an extra dose of both pop and snark.
