The band that was formerly a side project for
Elliott six-stringer Jay Palumbo, who handles vocal duties in
Thirty-Two Frames as well as guitar, makes a statement of their own on their eponymous debut EP, supplying modern-sounding hardcore that doesn't forget the traditional old-school sounds that predated and influenced them, notably Verbal Assault, with keen melodies that are not lost in spite of a more frantic overall vibe. The hidden bonus-track version of
Tom Petty's "I Need to Know" is excellent fun, like
Judas Priest jamming with
Bad Religion. ~ Brian O'Neill
