Glenn Yarbrough's first solo album after leaving the Limelighters,
Time to Move On, set the tone for the rest of his career: light acoustic arrangements, songs from an eclectic array of sources, and vibrato-laden vocals. Falling somewhere between pop and folk,
Yarbrough's solo work fit nicely into the growing adult contemporary "scene" that would eventually include
Gordon Lightfoot,
Roger Whittaker, and other such artists whose music continues to pose classification problems for so many record stores.
Yarbrough tackles one
Rod McKuen song ("The World I Used to Know"),
Jesse Fuller's "San Francisco Bay Blues," and closes with a lovely rendition of "Four Strong Winds."
