After another four-year layoff and a bit of personal tragedy (member Dwayne Goettel died the year before),
Tear Garden returns with a truly subdued outing. While previous albums featured songs where atmospherics would suddenly erupt in a cacophony of electronic noise, the material on ...Angel Blind... emphasizes atmosphere instead. It's a bit of a bummer on first listen, especially if you're expecting the
Tear Garden of old, but its subtleties are rewarding on repeated listenings. ~ Sean Carruthers
