Cornetist
Wild Bill Davison and the masterful stride pianist
Ralph Sutton team up on this Copenhagen session with five fine Danish musicians, including
Jesper Thilo (who switches between tenor, clarinet, and soprano) and trombonist
Ole "Fessor" Lindgreen. The program emphasizes swing standards and finds
Davison (71 at the time) still in exciting form. Among the memorable selections on the exuberant set are "Everybody Loves My Baby," "Shine," "Running Wild," and
Davison's vocal on "After I Say I'm Sorry." The superior playing of
Wild Bill and
Sutton make this one of the better Storyville trad sets of the past few decades.
