Stylish girl group
Papa Levante offer 11 lively songs of Latin pop along with one even more lively bonus track remix on this edition of
Tomalacaté, the group's 2001 album released by Universal.
Papa Levante feature six group members -- Sonia, Gala, Pao, Iren, Sandra, and Maria -- all of them beautiful, young, sassy, and elaborately dressed. You could almost consider them a Spanish version of
the Spice Girls or
Destiny's Child. All of the songs on this album are quite catchy and always fun. Though arguably more stylish than substantive,
Papa Levante are difficult not to like, if not for the ladies' music, then for their beautiful looks and overt femininity. ~ Jason Birchmeier
