In the early '50s
Dorsey mostly recorded commercial (and long out-of-print) music for Decca, so these live performances are quite welcome. Emphasizing the jazz side of
TD, one not only hears his trombone but
Charlie Shavers's trumpet and
Sam Donahue's tenor well-featured throughout this album.
Bill Finegan contributed some of the arrangements to what would be
Tommy Dorsey's last big band before rejoining forces with his brother
Jimmy for a final nostalgia-based orchestra.
