Unless you're a hardcore fan of at least half the MCs present on
Top Doggs, there's no reason to seek it out. One of the Thump label's many colorfully packaged but hastily assembled compilations,
Top Doggs includes contributions from a number of big names, but they're all second- or third-rate, which makes total sense. After all, this is hardly a high-profile release -- it's not even the soundtrack to a straight-to-video movie. Featured tracks include
Petey Pablo's "Anything You Want,"
Too Short's "Player's Holiday,"
Nate Dogg's "I Like It,"
E-40's "Real Recognize Real,"
Chingo Bling's "Ride It Out," and
WC's "In the Ghetto." ~ Andy Kellman
