The market for weak remakes of
Ludacris' most representative tracks has to be slim. And yet, that didn't stop Big Eye from issuing a set with those exact characteristics. A gaggle of studio musicians and faceless MCs tackle such tracks as "Stand Up," "Rollout [My Business]," and "Area Codes"; the results are earnest, but something less than memorable. The final track, by L.A. hip-hop hopefuls
V and Legacy with some help from
George Clinton, is an okay run through some watery funk. But it doesn't make
Tribute to Ludacris any more saleable. ~ Johnny Loftus
