The pop side of dance meets EDM once again on the 15th volume of the Ultra Dance series, but the interesting thing is how the "poppier" and "dancier" songs are now pushed toward their own discs. Disc one would be the poppier one as divas -- both male and female -- get the remix treatment from EDM stars, with
Britney Spears' "Dance B**ch" getting remixed by Dank,
One Direction's "Best Song Ever" getting pumped up by
Jump Smokers, while
Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" is further blurred at the hands of
Will Sparks. The
Linkin Park and
Steve Aoki collaboration "A Light That Never Comes" has the two factions working together right from the start, but
Aoki's ilk are generally on disc two with
Diplo ("Boy Oh Boy"),
Benny Benassi ("Back to the Pump"), and
Chris Malinchak ("So Good to Me") offering the best floor-fillers. The label's always willing to pay for the big popular tunes, so neophytes or those with two left feet should rest assured that even if they don't know the names, this one is certainly Ultra. ~ David Jeffries
