Art Garfunkel gives his "deepest thanks to
Mitchell Cohen at Columbia for the concept of this album." But what is the concept? It contains everything from the original
Simon & Garfunkel recording of "The Sound of Silence" (from their
Wednesday Morning, 3 AM album) to tracks from previous
Garfunkel solo albums, stray songs apparently intended for albums never made, movie and TV themes, a live performance, and even a comedy routine with
Paul Simon called "The Breakup" -- you name it. So, perhaps the concept is what
the Who called "odds and sods." In any case, it's also marginal. ~ William Ruhlmann
