Klaus Wiese is a very devout artist. His devotion to his craft goes beyond the music. He has shaped some of the world's strongest psychoactive atmospheres for meditation and healing.
Vision, while certainly fitting a dictionary definition of minimalism or ambience, cannot be described as ambient music by
Brian Eno's standards. These soundscapes are definitely interesting enough to be the focus of deep listening. They are not, however, by any stretch of the imagination, innocuous at all. Hence, they are not suitable as a background.
Wiese's sound design incorporates a synthesizer, Tibetan singing bowls, a zither, overtone harmonics, and a tambura. He has mixed them expertly. The psychoactivity sets listeners in the right places. This CD will appeal to fans of Henry Wolff and Nancy Hennings,
Mathias Grassow, Deborah Van Dyke, and Anugama. ~ Jim Brenholts
