7th Element released their debut project,
7th Element, Vol. 1, on June 15, 2002. Composed of brothers Curt, Darren, Garth, and Kevin Greene plus friends David "Dee" Glover and Marc Dwyer, the group's name is intended to bring glory to God rather than to the individual members. Regarding the name, Dwyer shares, "We figured that each of us came together to be an important element in the harmony, but the most important one was the Lord. So, each of us took a number, element one through element six, and we gave Christ his holy number, element seven. Thus, the group is named after the 7th Element" (Hoganson Media Relations). The album features the styles of R&B, traditional gospel, pop, and jazz. Vocally, the six members provide strong and melodic harmonies, which are highlighted on a cappella tracks such as "Ride the Chariot" and "Ship of Zion." Additional songs include "Everything That's Beautiful" and "Lift Every Voice." ~ Ashleigh Kittle
