Following the success of
Monrose and
No Angels, four-piece
Queensberry were the third girl band to be put together by German TV show Popstars. Their 2008 debut album, Queensberry, Vol. 1, was released a week before their final member was announced, resulting in three different versions featuring vocals from the three remaining finalists
Katharina Kobert, Patricia Ivanauskas, and Antonella Trapani. Produced by the likes of
Billy Steinberg,
Peter-John Vettese, and Obi Mhondera, its 13 tracks include the singles "No Smoke" and "I Can't Stop Feeling," and several songs previously recorded by talent show contestants around the world, including American Idol finalist Katherine McPhee ("Over It"), U.K. Popstars girl group
Clea ("Sprung"), and Finnish Idol runner-up
Anna Abreu ("End of Love"). ~ Jon O'Brien
